  Why it's a great race: Runners enjoy enthusiastic crowds along the way and a fireworks show at the race's conclusion. We tapped into a group that more than knows its way around marathons. Although the course drops nearly a half-mile in elevation from start to finish, it does have a few uphills along the course. The marathon is a multiple loop course through a beautiful park, with no traffic. Only marathoners, who are a little out there to begin with, would do this event. The Pocono Mountain Run for the Red Marathon happens to be one of the fastest marathon courses in the country.
